Is artificial flavour a doubtful ingredient?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

Artificial Flavour is not a doubtful ingredients. It refers to use of synthetic chemicals to formulate an imitation or emulation of another flavour. For example an artificial mango flavour will utilize some chemicals produced from non organic sources to emulate a mango flavour.

Canadian Food Inspection mentions “artificial flavour”, “imitation flavour” or “simulated flavour” refers to one or more substances prepared for their flavouring properties and derived in whole or in part from components obtained by chemical synthesis.

A point of fairness is that there is always a discussion in the international nutritional sciences if “artificial flavours” are wholesome and healthy for consumption or not. However, aside from this debate, the ingredient will be treated as Halal Suitable.
