All humans are dead except those who have knowledge;
and all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds;
and those who do good deeds are deceived, except those who are sincere;

MashAllah, beneficial quotes! Jazakum Allahu khayran.

 Here is another one regarding seeking and acquiring knowledge by Imam Shafi'ee

Here goes my translation attempt at it:

"My brother, you cannot achieve knowledge except by six (qualities).
I shall soon inform you regarding the details of this statement
(The six qualities are): Intellect, Desire, Effort, Reaching it (seriousness and focused), Association with teacher, Spending a long time"

    “Brother! There is a steep and rocky road between me and Jannah. If I pass through safely, then your insult means nothing to me. But on the contrary, if I fail to cross that path and hence I am prevented from reaching Jannah then indeed I am worthy of insults much worse than what you have mentioned.”
    -Hadhrath Abu Zar Ghifaari (radhiyallahu anhu)
    (Once a person abused him, hadrath replied with those sayings...)

    Lesson from above quotes

    Those who are conscious of the reality of this world and are focused towards their real destination, i.e. the Hereafter, they are not distracted by petty issues. Thus they easily dismiss the silly insults of people and happily continue on their journey towards the Aakhirah.

    On the contrary if a person does not focus on his destination, or if one is consumed by his ego, such a person will be deeply affected by every little comment.

    Therefore ignore the side issues. Keep your gaze on the way ahead and insha-Allah you will stay happy.
-Al-Haadi

Hasan al-Basri:

“I saw a people from the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) saying:

‘Whoever acts without knowledge, then that which he corrupts and ruins is greater than that which he sets aright. The one who does deeds without ‘ilm is like a traveller without a path, so seek knowledge with such a seeking that does not harm ‘ibaadah (worship) and seek (to perform) ‘ibaadah such that it does not harm ‘ilm.

And a man from amongst them would seek knowledge until it was readily seen from his khushoo’ (humbleness), his zuhd (asceticism), his speech and sight.”

[Siyar A’laam al-Nubalaa’]

The link between ‘ilm and ‘ibaadah is one that we must all pay close attention to. If our knowledge is not adding to the quality and quantity of our ‘ibaadah, then it should be a cause for concern because the first benefit we receive from ‘ilm is evident in our ‘ibadah.

We ask Allaah for tawfeeq

Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave

Quote (selected)
Question

Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.

Is that a hadith or just a saying

Answer

This is a very inspirational and profound statement.

However, I have not seen it as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

The Honourable Syrian Scholar of recent times, Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah) has declared this statement a fabrication which not be attributed to Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

(Qimatuz Zaman ‘indal ‘Ulama, pg.57-58)

Despite the above ruling, one may still take inspiration from these words of wisdom, but obviously abstain from attributing them to Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,

Ghayr Muqalliddeen are the people who do not make Taqleed of one of the four madhaahib. Hazrat is saying these people begin by having bad thoughts about the Elders i.e the Ulama and Mashaikh  which eventually ends in actually saying bad things about them and rejecting the madhaahib

We should not look at our limitations, rather we should focus at the shore-less ocean of Allah Ta‘ala’s power. Let your heart be with him no matter what your condition may be. Even if you are in sin, focus towards him.

unfortunately this is so everywhere on a large scale sister  ) :

Though Alhamdulillah there are many who are either involved in both or if not, then at least they respect each and every effort and look at the various efforts as just different paths leading to the same destination...so hey lets not get too down about it : )

To work hard in acquiring knowledge is in your control, but to preserve that knowledge is not. Allāh ta‘ālā looks at how hard you try and rewards you accordingly.

Mujāhadah doesn’t mean to sleep on the floor when there is a bed to sleep on, nor does it mean to use cold water when warm water is available; mujāhadah is to compel the nafs to obey the commands of Allāh ta‘ālā when it does not want to comply.

The Connection of Love

"Jo naa kaam hotaa rahe 'umr bhar bhi, baharhaal koshish to aashiq na chodhe.
Ye rishtaa muhabbat kaa kaa-im hi rakh-khe, jo so baar tute to so baar jhode"

The lover should never give up trying despite a lifetime's disobedience.
This connection of love should stay forever even if it has broken a hundred times, reconnect a hundred times

Do not give up hope. He is ready to accept no matter how much filth we have seen with our eyes or heard with our ears or how much haraam we've spoken with our tongues or how many haraam places we have walked to with our feet, yet Allah ta'ala is prepared to accept us. Even if the sins are committed again and again so repent again and again.

Imam Malik:
My mother would tie my turban before I'd proceed to the gatherings of 'ilm & she'd say, learn Adab before ilm from your Shaikh.

Reminder: It is more important to be a student of Manners then a student of ilm, because your ilm will be of no benefit without Manners.

The Yardstick to Measure True ‘Ilm and Amal

Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned:

Deeni knowledge is a noor (light) that motivates one towards amal (carrying out righteous deeds). Amal (carrying out righteous deeds) in turn creates the awareness and consciousness of Allah Ta‘ala within the heart of a person (thereby preventing him from committing sins). It is only when the knowledge of Deen leads to amal that it is considered as true knowledge, and it is only when amal creates the awareness and consciousness of Allah Ta‘ala that it is considered as true amal. If the knowledge of Deen does not lead to amal, then it certainly is not true knowledge, which is a light, but is rather complete darkness. Similarly, if amal does not serve to create the awareness of Allah Ta‘ala within the heart, then it is not true amal as it is very weak and deficient in creating its desired effect. Furthermore, for one to have the awareness of Allah Ta‘ala but to lack the sufficient knowledge of Deen that will guide one through the various phases of life is also extremely dangerous (as it is only through the knowledge of Deen that one will know how to please Allah Ta‘ala and fulfil His commands correctly). Placing one’s Reliance on Allah Ta’ala

Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned:

A person becoming despondent of Deeni progress on account of lack of resources is in actual fact a sign that his reliance on worldly means is more than his conviction upon the power of Allah Ta’ala and His promises. One should place his reliance entirely upon Allah Ta’ala and work with determination, Allah Ta’ala will create the means for the work to be accomplished. Otherwise, without the Divine help of Allah Ta’ala, what can man do of his own accord? Nevertheless, mustering up courage and determination and striving is vitally important in order to receive the Divine help of Allah Ta’ala.
