AR101 (Gateway to Arabic Grammar): Pre Course Preparations
« on: August 30, 2015, 03:48:13 AM »
السلام عليكم

All Praise be to Allah [Azza WaJal] who has given you the Tawfeeq to think about and commit yourself to learning the language of the Book.

Rules:

Unlike other courses which you may (or may not) have taken in the past, I would like you to understand a few ground rules.

You will be given assignments and homework from the first Lesson. The purpose is to develop your proficiency in Arabic language and it cannot be done if you are simply left to memorise complex grammatical rules. You cannot learn a language by memorising rules they need to be internalised and put into context.

You will be given maximum leeway and encouraged to experiment and make mistakes. You cannot learn unless and until you are willing to break out of your comfort zones.

You will be given maximum leeway and encouraged to ask questions (and repeat them) if you don’t understand something.

Use the forum and ask as many questions and about every little thing which is unclear to you. Make the forum your best friend.

Resources:

From the beginning you will be asked to get out of your comfort zones and get to grips with the language.  Here is an Arabic Keyboard which you need to very quickly become familiar with in order to do your homework and exercises:

Practice typing your name and your parents name etc so you become familiar with how the keyboard works.

You need to make your reading fluent before grammatical comprehension kicks in. Before each Lesson you will be advised to read (each Lesson) several times in its entirety so you are not struggling in the class with reading.

The human brain begins to pick up patterns long before it develops understanding of how and why these patterns develop. Your brain needs to pick up patterns of Arabic vowels (subconsciously) and internalise them.

Read the following text and if you are 100% fluent and have no difficulty in reading purchase the 3 part Madina Arabic series. If you are struggling purchase the first 2 books of Madina Arabic Reader. Remember, its just a reading test! Translation and comprehension is what the course will be teaching.

Restriction:

Human mind learns in a Linear manner so if a concept is going to be taught at a future session you will be given a temporary explanation to your query and asked to defer the question when the topic comes. This is because introducing everything in one go will confuse you

جزاك اللهُ خيرًا
